Safeguarding Guidelines

At Maths Week England we want everyone to enjoy taking part in the events and activities we are sharing. We are mindful that we are working with young people and have tried to ensure that activities, videos, and events are appropriate for the age groups for which they have been indicated.

We ask everyone involved to follow the following Code of Conduct:

Teachers are expected to fulfil their usual safeguarding duties as per their school policies throughout the event.

Some events may be recorded and your microphone and video will be turned off during the session. Teachers can communicate with the presenter(s) using the chat facility.

Arrive on time for timed events. We cannot guarantee that those arriving late will be able to participate in the session.

Do not share any log-in details for events – we need to report back the number of participants in our events.

Messages in the chat should relate to the material in the event.

Respect other participants.

Participants who do not respect our Code of Conduct may be removed from the event.

Activities are designed to be completed by students under the supervision of a responsible adult. The level of supervision needed may vary within and between activities, however the responsibility for the young people remains with the responsible adult.

If anything during the event concerns you, please alert your host or email us using this address: safeguarding@ mathsweekengland.co.uk. Any reports will be dealt with discreetly and in accordance with our safeguarding procedures. Thank you for being involved with Maths Week England, and we hope that you and your students enjoy the opportunity to explore maths!
