Doing Maths Together

Last year our video competition received over a hundred entries, so we’ve decided to run another one. There will be a prize of £100 for the winning entry!

This year’s challenge is to create a video of up to 2 minutes in length which shows how people have worked together to solve a problem in the real world, where the solution involved the use of mathematics.

Post your video to YouTube or Vimeo, and post the link on either:

a) the Maths Week England Facebook page, or b) Twitter, including our handle @Maths_Week.

Your post must also include the hashtags #MathsWeekEngland and #MWE21.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

(Please read carefully, as submission of entries will be deemed acceptance of these).

Entries must be received before midnight on 10th November 2021. Entries may be submitted after then,  but will not be eligible for the prize.

Entries should make reference to Maths Week England 2021, either by use of the hashtags or the phrase ‘Maths Week England 2021: Maths Together‘.

There is no restriction on any technology you may wish to use in order to create your video, but please make sure you are able to export and upload a video from whatever software you choose; we are unable to assist with technical support either with the software or the YouTube uploading process.

Entries over 2 minutes in length will be automatically disqualified.

Entries will only be considered from schools or home-educated pupils who have signed up to participate in Maths Week England.

The judges will be Maths Week Committee members. Their decision is final and they cannot enter into discussion about their choices.

Judging will take both design and content into consideration, but will be unable to offer feedback on individual entries.

The original video remain the creative property of the entrants, but by entering, applicants agree that Maths Week England may download and display the videos on the MWE website, social media channels, or future publicity materials in perpetuity.

Winners will be announced on the Maths Week Website and all social media channels on Friday 12th November 2021.
