Competition News!
We have been busy behind the scenes and can now announce that we have no less than four partners running competitions for Maths Week 2019: they are Mangahigh, Sumdog, Time Table Rockstars, and MEI. See the competition page for details.
Maths Week England is born!
Mark the date: 3rd April 2019 was the official birth of Maths Week England, and Twitter as its birthplace. This was followed two weeks later by the publication of this website. This is the page of the site on which we will post the latest developments, including items of news, ways you can get involved, and ways you can help celebrate Maths Week 2019, which takes place from 11th to 16th November.
We envisage that Maths Week will start small initially as it is being privately funded, but with enough help and support it will continue to grow annually until every child has a chance to engage with the beauty and magic of mathematics. This is all about engaging the population (but particularly the nation’s young people) with a subject that has a bit of an image problem; with your help, we can change that. See our six aims for further detail.
Extremely important too is the principle that this remains ‘of the people’. This means that Maths Week will only be successful in direct proportion to the number of people who are willing to get behind it and dive into the wonderful world of mathematics.
In addition to that, we will shortly be able to reveal news of a World Record attempt – check back soon!
