A cross-curricular workshop for teachers of English and Maths at one of London\u2019s most inspirational venues, Shakespeare\u2019s Globe in London.<\/h2>\n

The future of education is collaborative.<\/h3>\n

Working solely within one discipline or another has not provided sufficient future-facing approaches and solutions to the \u201dwicked problems<\/a>\u201d relevant to our times, like climate change and social inequity. Those we teach need to know how to move beyond existing ways of thinking by bringing together complex, cross-system, cross-sectoral ways of working. Crucially, these are also the skills that employers are looking for in employees of the future.<\/p>\n

As educators, that means we need to think in trans-disciplinary, cross-curricular ways.<\/p>\n

This workshop will explore how English and Maths can come together to ensure that teaching is rich and engaging, and also prepares students to move successfully through the 21st century world.<\/p>\n

  1. Explore the common ground between English and Maths<\/li>\n
  2. Discover opportunities for cross-curricular collaboration<\/li>\n
  3. Develop techniques for teaching across the curriculum to make teaching rich, engaging and future-facing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This workshop is brought to you by the\u00a0English Association<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Mathematical Association, in collaboration with\u00a0Maths Inspiration<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    This event is suitable for any teacher interested in discovering the value of making connections between English and Maths, and subject leads looking for ways to develop their provision through making such connections.\u00a0There will be a focus on the skills needed at GCSE, but all with an interest in this topic are welcome.<\/p>\n
